Human emotion, the psyche and immortality.Emotion;
Mans most civilising drive is the need for pleasure.
His most self-destructive impulse is the need for love.
Between these two compulsive longings lies the treacherous ground of emotion, which me often mistakes for both.
Emotion originates from instinct, the first driving force of life on earth.instinct is the desire to survive and live again.its finest accomplishment is seen in the animals-in its unselfconscious artistry.
In man instinct governs his animal responses but when it rises into his unique self-consciousness it becomes emotion- the need to project himself and make an impression on his environment., whether by anger,mood, talk, threat or desire for recognition,sympathy and acceptance. Now that man has realized his senses,entered his body and ordered his reflective thought processes, emotion as the prime mover of these evolutionary achievements has served its purpose.
However ,like the genie out of the bottle who discovered its power over man ,refuses to go away .It is now man’s torment, the main source of misery and lack of fulfillment, leaving him depressed, discontented or unfulfilled until he is revitalized and can be used again. How to get the emotional genie back into the bottle for good is now the great evolutionary task of humanity.
The psyche
The human psyche is our instrument of thought and perception.It begins inside the human body and extends down through the subconscious(where we think and dream) into the unconscious.
This part of our psyche includes the world of the living dead and deeper down , mans psychic double. Every living creature from man to the insects is attached to the psyche like hairs to a scalp.
Every living thing is a receptor, convertor and battery serving the evolution of the the psyche.While alive each organism absorbs into its unique psychic system(its hair, or body)cosmic energy and data provided by sunlight, the dynamic behind all life and terrestrial evolution. This energy each living battery transforms and stores two primal life charges, one positive/actual, the other negative/potential.
The positive charge is the vitality which powers the life the negative represents the intrinsic value of the life of the particular organism. Throughout the life of an organism the negative charge build up and remains unused. At death the positive vitality remaining in the living creature/battery travels down the narrow channels of its stem or ‘hair’ into the collective unconscious of all life; and it takes with it the creatures unique negatively-charged ‘essence’-each organism’s contribution to the experimental value as a whole; the value of its having lived. Then in an intense afterlife process the negative essence is extracted and the positive vital energy rejoins the collective reservoir of recirculating instinct.. After a further process the essence takes on a new vital potential and, returning to earth, manifests in a new body among the species;the whole cyclic process is repeated.
The most extraordinary fact about the psyche is that it consists of the instinctive and emotional past of all life that has ever lived and died on earth.
The return of immortality.
The point of existence is for man to build a new world of his own and be fully and permanently responsible for it. It has to be a world where he is immortal, where his conscious presence and control are interrupted. Mystics and saints have seen it as a life in the spirit of selfless love, in which the need for any existence at all disappears.
But mans future world is neither physical nor spiritual; it is psychic. He must do this while alive as to date he has no world to call his own for very long. Death excludes him from the physical world; living excludes him from the psychic world. He never remains long enough in either. while alive he compromises endlessly, goes with the stream and contributes only what is necessary to the common good. Consequently the expansion of man’s awareness is glacially slow and his power to change things in either world is practically nil.
The epoch has now arrived in which man is to start taking conscious control of the psychic world and his own existence.A mans psychic double –his own vital and immortal self -is as close to him as his sense of being alive. But he is separated from it by his negative feelings, moods fears and desires. These negative feelings distort the psychic space and separate him from his mortality. Imagination is the battleground. The further he gets into the psychic world and close to his own double, the more imagination becomes physically substantial. He ceases to be controlled by his imagination when he stops thinking about emotive areas such as sex, love, power and death. He is then facing up to death and the psychic world. As he does the negative emotional forces are rendered impotent and can no longer afflict him; his space is clear. The psychic forces that appose and resist him, (his own past)are the guardians of the threshold which he must face before he can be aligned with the unfolding purity of his psychic double. Medium and clairvoyants may communicate with the world of the dead. But no one may have conscious control in it while alive until he has confronted and dealt with the gigantic psychic presence of his own living past at the door to life and realty.
